Lost Playgrounds in a Concrete Jungle
By Sangeeta, a concerned citizen With rapid urbanization, parks and playgrounds are vanishing, replaced by high-rises and malls. Children are confined indoors, glued to screens and losing vital social and physical development. Playgrounds not only foster friendships but also teach discipline, teamwork, and creativity. The loss of such spaces has triggered obesity and rising mental health issues. For example, in our locality, a popular park was demolished for a parking lot. Since then, children seldom interact outdoors. The government must intervene and formulate policies that preserve and promote green spaces. Community parks, rooftop gardens, and school grounds must be protected. Let’s reclaim childhood from concrete walls.
