Question:

Direction: Ten pirates - Horvi, Rangirk, Felicia, Ana, Noa, Gangra, Yarsolav, Daman, Lima and King took a vote on who should be the leader.
A pirate always votes for themselves though. So, they decided on voting out the one who shouldn’t be a leader for the first five rounds and for the remaining four rounds, the leader would be voted for. A pirate never votes against themselves.
At the end of each of the nine rounds, one person was eliminated and that person couldn’t take part in the voting. In case of a tie in the voting, eliminated people chose one of the tied people to vote out.
At the end of the voting for the first five rounds – “For who shouldn’t be the leader” - the total votes were as shown as in the table below:
PirateVotes Against
Horvi0
Rangirk0
Felicia0
Ana9
Noa4
Gangra5
Yarsolav5
Daman6
Lima4
King7

In each of the five rounds, only two pirates were voted against. The table given below shows the number of rounds in which each of the pirates was voted against.

PirateVotes Against in (Number of rounds)
Horvi0
Rangirk0
Felicia0
Ana1
Noa3
Gangra1
Yarsolav1
Daman1
Lima1
King2

It is known that King was not voted out. He was the second most voted pirate in two successive rounds.

The Correct Option is B

Solution and Explanation

From the first table, Horvi, Rangirk and Felicia were definitely not voted out because they received no votes against them.

From the 2nd table:
As Daman, Ana, Yaroslav, Gangra were voted against in just one round and the votes against them are at least 5, they definitely must have been voted out in any of the first \(5\) rounds .
Noa must have not been voted out, as the maximum number of votes against her in any round would be \(2\) as she is voted against in \(3\) rounds, with total votes against her as \(4\) With \(2\) votes against, even in the fifth round, she could only be the 2nd most voted against.
So, Lima must have been voted out as King was not voted out.
The 2nd most voted votes must be \(4\) and \(3\) for King. (as \(5\) votes are enough to be voted out even in the first round)
Ana must have been voted out in the first round.
If tie is not possible:
If tie is possible:
From the table, Daman was eliminated in Round \(4\).

So, the correct option is B.
