Sanchari Bhavas are fleeting, transitory emotions that support the main mood (Sthayi Bhava) in a performance.
According to the Natyashastra, there are 33 Sanchari Bhavas.
Some examples include: Nirveda (despair), Glani (fatigue), Shanka (doubt), Asuya (envy), Chinta (anxiety), Moha (delusion), Smriti (recollection), and Harsha (joy).
These subtle feelings help dancers enrich Abhinaya by adding natural variations in emotion.
Sanchari Bhavas make the performance more realistic and layered.
