The author was quite attached to his pet. When he couldn't find his cat after the fire, he sobbed uncontrollably. In the hopes of locating the cat, he would frequently visit the location of his home. He recollected how the cat used to slink into his pocket, nod off, and express how much he missed her.
The cat fled the house a mile away after becoming extremely alarmed by the fire. She was found and taken in by a woman. On the cat's collar, she found the author's phone number. She was unable to contact them, though, as the fire had disconnected the phone. After that, the woman looked for the author on her own and gave the cat back.
