Magnetic hysteresis refers to the phenomenon where the magnetic properties of a material depend on its magnetic history. This effect occurs in ferromagnetic materials, such as iron, nickel, and cobalt. When these materials are magnetized and then demagnetized, the resulting graph of magnetization versus magnetic field strength forms a loop, known as a hysteresis loop. This loop is characteristic of ferromagnetic materials. In contrast, diamagnetic and paramagnetic materials do not exhibit this effect because their magnetic moments do not persist after the external field is removed.
