Alap is very important in Raga delineation. It depicts the pure form
of Raga. Alap is played without the tala. It has inherent laya which
help in creating the atmosphere of a raga. In Alap, meend, kan,
gamak, krintan etc. are used according to the nature and demand of
the phraseology of the raga. This help in depicting aesthetical picture
of the raga.
After reading the above passage create Alap upto 60 swaras (in each
raga) along with signs of meend, kan, gamak, krintan etc. in all three
ragas of your syllabus.
