आज पूरी दुनिया में व्यापक जल संकट है। एक तरफ हिमनद (ग्लेशियर) का पिघलना और दूसरी तरफ बर्बादी-खुबाई का बढ़ता आना हो रहा है। आमतौर पर नदियों में पानी बढ़ रहा है। हिमनद जब पिघलते हैं, तो उन नदियों के उद्धार का पास ही लोग उसका उपयोग करने लगते हैं। हिमनदों के पिघलने के कारण हमारी पर्यावरण भी इसका प्रभाव पड़ रहा है। नदियों की बहती प्रवाह में अपने ही धीमी-धीमी गति बदलती जा रही है। जल–वायु संकट में आता जा रहा है, उनके जल–वोषण का संकट, उससे होने वाले प्रभाव अत्यंत बहुत हैं। जिन्हें हिमनद पिघलते हैं, उनके आपस–रूपथल जल की कमी होती है। जल और तापमान के कारण पृथ्वी नई स्थितियों का सामना सामना आ सकता है। इस संकट में होने वाले कारण के उपाय उपाय बहुत हैं।
