Atmospheric scattering affects electromagnetic waves, especially those with shorter wavelengths like blue light.
In colour aerial photographs, all visible wavelengths are captured, including blue, which is heavily scattered.
This results in a general haziness or fuzziness, especially in distant features.
While panchromatic images use a broad range of wavelengths, they are less sensitive to scattering than full-colour photos.
Therefore, colour images are more prone to atmospheric haze.
