Anomie is a concept introduced by Émile Durkheim that refers to a state of normlessness or a breakdown in the social regulations of society. It occurs when individuals or groups feel disconnected from the social norms that once governed their behavior, often leading to confusion, disorientation, and social instability.
A strong sense of community bonding, social mobility, and adherence to cultural norms are not correct because they are related to social cohesion, movement within social classes, and cultural practices, respectively, rather than the breakdown of norms.
