Hinsberg’s reagent is benzenesulfonyl chloride (C$_6$H$_5$SO$_2$Cl), which is used to differentiate between primary, secondary, and tertiary amines. The reagent reacts with primary amines to form sulfonamides, with secondary amines to form N-alkyl sulfonamides, and with tertiary amines, no reaction occurs due to the lack of an available hydrogen atom for reaction. This test helps distinguish between the different classes of amines.
