Poshan Abhiyaan is a flagship nutrition mission of the Government of India that aims to improve nutritional outcomes for children, pregnant women, and lactating mothers by monitoring and reviewing various nutrition-related interventions.
Two important short-term interventions under Poshan Abhiyaan are:
Treatment of Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM): Identifying and treating children suffering from SAM through supplementary feeding and medical care.
Promotion of Anaemia Control Programmes: Providing iron and folic acid supplementation to children and pregnant women to combat anaemia.
These interventions help in immediate improvement of nutritional status and prevent long-term health problems.
