Nitrification involves the oxidation of ammonia to nitrates through nitrites in the presence of nitrifying bacteria. Nitrite bacteria (Nitrosomonas and Nitrococcus) convert ammonia to nitrites whereas, nitrate bacteria (Nitrobacter and Nitrocystis) convert nitrite to soluble nitrate.
The naturally occurring inorganic nutrient found in the soil and food that is necessary for the proper functioning of animal and plant bodies is defined as nutrition. Minerals are vital elements essential for the body.
