Explain the terms \(\textit{Arudi}\) and \(\textit{Eduppu}. \)
Arudi and Eduppu are important concepts in Carnatic music related to the starting and ending points of a composition in relation to the tala cycle.
Arudi:
Arudi refers to the point in the tala cycle where a composition or musical phrase begins. It can start exactly at the beginning of the tala cycle (called Samam), or it may start earlier or later, depending on the composition style.
Eduppu:
Eduppu is the point where the composition or phrase ends in synchronization with the tala cycle. The ending note or phrase should align properly with the tala to maintain rhythmic integrity.
Understanding Arudi and Eduppu is crucial for performers to maintain rhythmic balance and coordination with percussion during a concert.
