Chapter XII of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, deals with 'Claims Tribunals'. Section 165 provides for the constitution of Motor Accidents Claims Tribunals (MACT) for adjudicating upon claims for compensation in respect of accidents involving the death of, or bodily injury to, persons arising out of the use of motor vehicles. The subsequent sections, up to Section 175, deal with the application for compensation, procedures, powers of the tribunal, appeals, and related matters.
