The Correct Option is B

Solution and Explanation

Total no. of children = 85
Given, total no. of girls = 70\(\%\) of total no. of boys
⇒ 85 - Total no. of boys = 0.7\(\times\)Total no. of boys
⇒ Total no. of boys \(=\frac{85}{1.7}=50\)
Now,
No. of children playing only table tennis = 40\(\%\) of 85 = 34
No. of children playing badminton & table tennis both = 12
⇒ No. of children playing only badminton = 85-34-12 = 39
\(\therefore\) No. of boys playing only badminton = 50\(\%\) of No. of boys = 0.5\(\times\)50 = 25
\(\therefore\) No. of girls playing only badminton = 39-25 = 14
The correct option is (B): 14
