Short-term memory (STM), also referred to as working memory, is the memory system responsible for temporarily holding and processing information.
Characteristics:
Example: If an address is not rehearsed or actively transferred to long-term memory, it is likely to decay rapidly, explaining why you cannot recall it three minutes later.
