The Correct Option is C

Solution and Explanation

Digestion is the process by which the body breaks down food into absorbable nutrients. Proteins are the substance of the body, the actual building materials from which muscle, connective tissue, the skin, hair and other vital tissues are constructed. Chemical digestion of proteins starts in the stomach and is completed in the upper part of the small intestine, also called the duodenum. Protein digestion starts with stomach enzymes (proteases) such as pepsin that break apart specific links in the amino acids that comprise proteins. These chains are reduced to much shorter lengths. called peptides and peptones. The partially digested proteins move on to the small intestine where pancreatic proteases continues digestion, breaking the peptides and peptones into individual amino acids which are absorbed directly or attached (chelated) to minerals, thus allowing mineral absorption.

Digestion and Absorption - Alimentary Canal

The alimentary canal is mainly referred to as the pathway by which food enters our body and moves out through the anus after digestion. It is a tube-like structure that starts from the mouth and ends in the anus. The alimentary canal plays a primary role in human digestion and is also termed as the digestive tract.

Peristalsis is a series of wave-like muscle contractions that move food through the digestive tract.
