Gandhi’s Advice to the Bangle Makers of Firozabad
Good morning everyone,
Today, I wish to share my thoughts on what Gandhi’s advice would be to the bangle makers of Firozabad, as depicted in \textit{Lost Spring}. Gandhi’s philosophy, as seen in \textit{Indigo}, was rooted in self-reliance, collective action, and fighting injustice peacefully. He would encourage the bangle makers to unite and demand better working conditions and fair wages. Exploitation by the middlemen and poverty have trapped these artisans in a vicious cycle. Gandhi would urge them to break free from this exploitation by forming cooperatives, eliminating middlemen, and ensuring their voices are heard. He would also emphasize the importance of education to empower future generations. Through these steps, the bangle makers could achieve both economic and social freedom, mirroring Gandhi’s vision of self-dependence and dignity for all.
