Lymph is also known as tissue fluid.
Functions of Lymph:
1. Collects and returns interstitial fluid: Lymph collects the interstitial fluid (the fluid that surrounds cells in tissues) and returns it to the circulatory system, thus maintaining fluid balance.
2. Immunity: Lymph plays a vital role in the immune system. Lymph nodes filter lymph and trap pathogens and foreign particles. Lymphocytes (white blood cells) present in lymph nodes help fight infection.
