Step 1: Background.
In Kalki’s story The Tiger King, astrologers predicted the fate of the prince at the time of his birth. They declared that he would grow up to become a brave ruler but his death would come from a tiger.
Step 2: Prediction.
The chief astrologer specifically warned that the Maharaja should be very careful with tigers. Even though he might kill ninety-nine tigers, the hundredth tiger would be the cause of his death.
Step 3: Impact of the prediction.
This prophecy shaped the entire life of the Tiger King. Obsessed with proving the astrologer wrong, he set out to hunt a hundred tigers. Ironically, despite killing ninety-nine tigers, he eventually died because of a wooden toy tiger—the hundredth one—thus fulfilling the prediction.
Step 4: Conclusion.
The astrologer’s prediction turned out to be true and became the central theme of the story, highlighting irony and fate.
