Asexual Reproduction is a form of reproduction where a single organism can produce offspring without the involvement of gametes. It is often done through processes like binary fission, budding, spore formation, and fragmentation.
Budding in Hydra:
- Hydra reproduces asexually by budding. In this process, a small outgrowth (bud) develops on the body of the parent organism.
- The bud is initially smaller than the parent and grows by the division of cells in the body of the parent.
- As it matures, the bud develops a mouth and tentacles, resembling a miniature version of the parent.
- Once the bud reaches full size, it detaches from the parent and becomes a separate individual.
