While Section 446 of the CrPC deals with the procedure for forfeiture of a bond (i.e., collecting the penalty amount when a condition is breached), Section 446-A specifically addresses the "Cancellation of bond and bail bond." This section states that if a person who has executed a bond fails to appear in court without sufficient cause, the court can, in addition to imposing the penalty under Section 446, cancel the bond and issue a warrant for their arrest. This provision was inserted to provide a stronger deterrent against non-appearance.
