Approach Solution - 1

There may be the following possible reasons for not to glow:

  • Liquid solution in container is distilled water.
  • Bulb may be fused.
  • The battery has already been exhausted, there are no sufficient charges (electric current) required for the bulb to glow.
  • Any loose connection (air gaps) like electrodes are not properly connected to wire.

Approach Solution -2

There could be several reasons why the bulb does not glow:
The bulb might be faulty or not in working condition; the filament could be broken, or there might be loose connections in the circuit.
The battery used in the circuit might be depleted and lack sufficient energy to light the bulb.
The liquid in the beaker might be non-conductive, preventing electric current from passing through the liquid and completing the circuit.
The liquid might be conductive, but its conductivity could be too low, resulting in a current too weak to produce enough heat in the bulb’s filament to make it glow.
Note: A circuit provides a path for the flow of electricity. If the path is broken, electrons cannot flow through the circuit. If the circuit is complete, electrons can flow from one end of a power source to the other. Sometimes, appliances are connected only to the positive terminal of a power source, with the other end connected to the ground, known as an earth connection. The earth acts as a source of excess electrons and helps complete the circuit.

Electric Current

Defining Electric Current

It is the rate of flow of electrons in a conductor. SI Unit - Ampere (A).

Electrons are negatively charged particles hence when they move a number of charges moves.

Note:- The ability of a particular substance to conduct electricity depends on the number of electrons that are able to move . Some of the materials allow current to flow better than others.

What is an Electromotive Force?

If a force acts on electrons to make them move in a particular direction, then up to some extent random motion of the electrons will be eliminated. An overall movement in one direction. The force which acts on the electrons to move them in a certain direction is known as electromotive force and its quantity is known as voltage and is measured in V.
