Mahendra was asleep one full moon night when he heard a quiet groan outside his window. Initially, he believed it to be a cat hunting mice. However, the sound was excessively deep and cat-like. He forced himself not to peek outside in case he saw something that would make his heart stop. However, the sobbing got louder and less subdued. He was no longer able to resist the urge. He stooped to the level of the windowsill and peered out at the blank canvas of moonlight beyond. There it was, not too far away, a hazy, shadowy shape clutching something. He collapsed back into the pillow, gasping, as he broke out in a cold sweat.
