माध्यमभाषया सरलार्थं लिखत। 
नद्यौ - रे विश्वामित्र, नैव विरमावः त्वत्कृते। नैव कुर्वः देवेन्द्रस्य कार्ये अधिक्षेपम्। 
विश्वामित्रः - नैव मातः, मास्तु देवेन्द्रस्य अवज्ञा। केवलम् इच्छामः परतीरं गन्तुम्। हे मातः, प्रसीद। वयं सर्वे तव पुत्राः एव। न वयं कदापि तव उपकारान् विस्मरामः।

प्रस्तुतिः:
अयं संवादः ऋग्वेदात् (3.33) स्वीकृतः 'नदीसूक्तात्' उद्धृतः। अत्र महर्षिः विश्वामित्रः विपाशा-शुतुद्री नद्योः पारं गन्तुम् इच्छति तथा च नद्योः प्रार्थनां करोति।
(This dialogue is excerpted from the 'Nadī-sūkta' taken from the Rigveda (3.33). Here, the sage Viśvāmitra wishes to cross the rivers Vipāśā and Śutudrī and prays to them.)
सरलार्थः:
नद्यौ (विपाशा तथा शुतुद्री) विश्वामित्रं प्रति वदतः, "हे विश्वामित्र! आवां तव कृते न स्थास्यावः (अर्थात् स्वप्रवाहं न रोधयिष्यावः)। आवां देवराजस्य इन्द्रस्य कार्ये (आज्ञापालने) बाधां न करिष्यावः।"
(The two rivers (Vipāśā and Śutudrī) say to Viśvāmitra, "O Viśvāmitra! We will not stop for you (i.e., we will not stop our flow). We will not interfere in the work of Devarāja Indra (in obeying his command).")
विश्वामित्रः नम्रतया उत्तरति, "हे मातरौ! तथा मास्तु। देवराजस्य इन्द्रस्य अवज्ञा न करणीया। आवां केवलं नद्याः अपरं पारं गन्तुम् इच्छामः। हे मातरौ! कृपया प्रसन्ने भवतम्। वयं सर्वे भवतः पुत्राः एव स्मः। वयं भवतः उपकारान् कदापि न विस्मरिष्यामः।"
(Viśvāmitra humbly replies, "O mothers! Let it not be so. The command of Devarāja Indra should not be disobeyed. We only wish to go to the other bank of the river. O mothers, please be pleased. We are all your sons. We will never forget your favors.")
