PERT is a widely used project management methodology.
PERT stands for Program Evaluation and Review Technique.
It was developed by the U.S. Navy in the 1950s for managing the Polaris missile project.
PERT is a method used to analyze the tasks involved in completing a given project, especially the time needed to complete each task, and to identify the minimum time needed to complete the total project (critical path). It often uses probabilistic time estimates (optimistic, pessimistic, most likely) for activities, particularly for projects with uncertainty.
It is often used in conjunction with the Critical Path Method (CPM).
