Layakari means the art of playing with rhythm within a tala.
It shows how the same composition is presented in different speeds or cross-rhythms.
Types include Dugun (double), Tigun (triple), Chaugun (quadruple), and Aad Laya (1.5x).
Example: A Tihai of 4 beats can be expanded into 8 beats in Dugun or 12 beats in Tigun.
Advanced tabla players perform Layakari with improvisations, syncopations, and complex Tihais.
It shows skill, creativity, and control over beat cycle.
