- Arachnoid: The middle layer, which is web-like and helps in cushioning the brain.
- Pia mater: The delicate inner layer that closely adheres to the brain’s surface.
Neurotransmitters, however, are not part of the meninges; they are chemical messengers used in the nervous system for communication.
