Speech Draft on Relationships: Natalya and Anne Frank
Good morning everyone.
Relationships are the bond between two people based on mutual likes, understanding, need, or love. In this speech, I would like to discuss relationships as portrayed through the characters of Natalya from The Proposal and Anne Frank from The Diary of Anne Frank.
In The Proposal, the relationship between Natalya and Lomov is full of misunderstandings, ego clashes, and exaggerated pride. Both characters seem to enter the relationship for social and financial stability rather than genuine love or understanding. The comedic nature of their engagement process highlights how relationships can sometimes be influenced by superficial qualities, rather than mutual respect or affection.
On the other hand, Anne Frank’s relationship with her family and friends during her time in hiding reveals a more profound and emotional connection. Despite the isolation and fear surrounding her, Anne’s bond with her family and friends showcases how relationships can be a source of strength and support during difficult times. Unlike the superficial nature of Natalya’s relationship, Anne’s relationships are based on empathy, understanding, and love.
To conclude, I believe that while relationships can vary greatly, at their core, they are meant to bring people closer, provide support, and help us grow. Whether they are based on mutual respect, like in Anne Frank’s case, or influenced by societal pressure, like in The Proposal, relationships define a part of our lives and contribute to who we become.
Thank you.
