A choke coil is an inductance coil with very small resistance. The primary function is to control current in AC circuit. In electronics. Higher frequencies are blocked while passing direct current.
A choke coil should have high inductance and low resistance. This is done to reduce the current in an A.C. circuit. The high inductance is used in place of a high resistance because the inductance does not consume power, and thus no energy is lost as heat.
