Section 425 of the Companies Act, 2013, grants the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) and the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) the same jurisdiction, powers, and authority in respect of contempt of themselves as the High Court has. This means the NCLT is empowered to initiate proceedings and punish for its own contempt, just like a court of record. It does not need to refer the matter to the High Court or Supreme Court.
