The Objective Resolution was a historic resolution that laid down the fundamental principles and philosophy that would guide the framing of the Indian Constitution. It was moved in the Constituent Assembly on December 13, 1946, by Jawaharlal Nehru. After extensive debate, it was unanimously adopted by the Assembly on January 22, 1947. The principles of the Objective Resolution were later incorporated, in a modified form, into the Preamble of the Constitution of India.
