Stele is the fundamental part of the shoot in vascular plants. It mainly consists of tissues derived from procambium. These tissues includes vascular tissue, pith and pericycle. The pericycle forms the outermost boundary of the stele. The word 'stele' is taken from Greek language, which means 'pillar'. In plants, stele is the primary vascular system of plant's stem.
