Ajita Kesakambalin, a materialist philosopher, proposed that human beings are made up of the four basic elements: earth, water, fire, and air. According to his philosophy, when a person dies, their body returns to these elements—earth to earth, water to water, fire to fire, and air to air. Kesakambalin rejects any notion of the soul or afterlife, arguing that death results in the dissolution of the human body into its natural components. His teachings emphasize the material nature of existence, denying any spiritual continuation after death.
