Excretion occurs when there is an excess of any substance in the human body or when any substance is not required anymore. These toxic materials are flushed out by the excretory system. Glomerular filtrate contains blood without blood cells and proteins.
In a nephron in the kidney, the material that diffuses from the glomerulus to the glomerular capsule is called glomerular filtrate. This filtrate comprises of a large amount of water and other dissolved substances. These dissolved substances are urea, creatinine, amino acids, uric acid, glucose, metals like Sodium, potassium, vitamins etc. The filtered blood flows into the efferent renal arterioles. Thus, the glomerular filtrate and blood plasma are similar except that glomerular filtrate lacks proteins and blood cells.
