In Carnatic music, Bhashanga ragas are those that include one or more \textit{anya swaras} (foreign notes) which do not belong to the parent melakarta scale. These foreign notes add unique emotional colors and melodic complexity to the raga.
Examples:
Bhairavi: Incorporates \textit{kaishiki nishada (N2)} which is not in its parent scale.
Kambhoji: Includes foreign notes such as \textit{chatusruti dhaivata (D2)} and \textit{kaishiki nishada (N2)}.
