Solution and Explanation

(a) \(3: 1\)

Total parts = \(3 + 1 = 4\)

\(1 ^{st}\) part = \(\frac{3}{4}=\frac{3}{4}\times 100\%=75\%\)

\(2^{nd}\) Part = \(\frac{1}{4}=\frac{1}{4}\times100\%=25\%\)

(b) \(2: 3: 5\)

Total parts = \(2 + 3 + 5 = 10\)

\(1^{st}\) part = \(\frac{2}{10}=\frac{2}{10}\times100\%=20\%\)

\(2^{nd}\) part = \(\frac{3}{10}=\frac{3}{10}\times100\%=20\%\)

\(3^{rd}\) part = \(\frac{5}{10}=\frac{5}{10}\times100\%=50\%\)

(c) \(1:4\)

Total parts =\(1 + 4 = 5\)

\(1^{st}\) part = \(\frac{1}{5}= \frac{1}{5}\times100\%= 20\%\)

\(2^{nd}\) part = \(\frac{4}{5}=\frac{4}{5}\times100\%=80\%\)

(d) \(1: 2: 5\)

Total parts = \(1 + 2 + 5 = 8\)

\(1^{st}\) part = \(\frac{1}{8}=\frac{1}{8}\times100\%=12.5\%\)

\(2^{nd}\) part = \(\frac{2}{8}=\frac{2}{8}\times 100\%=25\%\)

\(3^{rd}\) part = \(\frac{5}{8}= \frac{5}{8}\times100\%=62.5\%\)
