Most of the major integrated steel plants in India established after independence (Bhilai, Rourkela, Durgapur, Bokaro) are public sector units under SAIL. The main private sector player is Tata Steel (TISCO).
Step 1: Identify the Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL). It is one of the largest steel-producing units in India.
Step 2: Determine its ownership. BSL was established with the collaboration of the Soviet Union and has always been owned and operated by the Government of India. It is a unit of the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), which is a Public Sector Undertaking (PSU). Therefore, it is in the public sector.
