Bharat 5G Portal was launched by the Ministry of Communications, Government of India. The portal was unveiled by Dr. Neeraj Mittal, Secretary of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), during the 'Bharat Telecom 2024' event held in January 2024. This integrated platform aims to serve as a comprehensive resource for stakeholders in the 5G and emerging technology sectors.
The portal is designed to facilitate collaboration among startups, industry players, and academia in areas such as 5G, 6G, quantum technologies, and intellectual property rights (IPR). It acts as a one-stop solution for various initiatives, including Proof of Concepts (PoCs), pilot projects, and research and development activities related to next-generation communication technologies.
Additionally, the Bharat 5G Portal features the 'Future Tech-Experts' registration platform, developed in collaboration with PanIIT USA. This initiative aims to support and guide the Indian telecom ecosystem by connecting experts and fostering innovation. The portal also includes a dedicated section for 6G research and development proposals, encouraging accelerated research in the 6G ecosystem.
The launch of the Bharat 5G Portal underscores India's commitment to advancing its telecommunications infrastructure and promoting self-reliance (Atmanirbhar Bharat) in the technology sector. By providing a centralized platform for information dissemination, collaboration, and innovation, the Ministry of Communications aims to propel India's capabilities in the global 5G and emerging technology landscape.
