In Lyophobic sols, substances like metals, their sulphides, etc., when simply mixed with the dispersion medium do not form the colloidal sol. These colloidal sols need a special method for their preparation. When the Dispersed phase and dispersion medium are mixed simply the colloidal sol can't be formed. Hence, they are called irreversbile sols.
